Here are ten questions to know me better

Save yourself from imagining on how I work. Here some commonly asked questions that can help you know me better

❓
Why does this website link say "Ayilai"? What does it mean?
It’s my name anadrome. Aliya Alifadrianti ⇄ Ayila Itnairdavila. Swap the f with v because I was feeling it. This name came as my friends and I were creating a photography blog on tumblr back in 2009. We wanted to stay anonimous, just in case we hit that tumblarity (didn’t happen, also loving the confidence).

❓
What inspires you?
"People, Places, and Prices." These three things always amuse me because they reflect how society works. They are predictable through patterns, but also full of surprises.

❓
Where do you go to find your zen when experiencing creative block?
The idea is to have a break. So it could be in the bedroom to watch no-brainer series, in the kitchen to try out new NYT Cooks recipie, or in the backyard to stay connected with nature. Definetly scalable!

❓
What is on your work table?
It depends on where I work. Whether at home, in the office, or at a cafe, I always have my MacBook Pro connected to a second screen whenever possible. I keep tissues nearby because I sneeze a lot. I have two cups: one with a drink to keep me entertained and one to keep me hydrated. I always have a notebook and a pen with me because I like to scribble so my brain could dribble.

❓
What's your go-to lunch?
When I'm at home, I try my best to cook. It keeps me away from screens. But when I'm away, I dine on whatever I'm currently hyperfixating on. It varies from sourdough sandwiches to ayam geprek, followed by a 15-minute power nap.

How do you deal with Gen Z?
I feel that Gen Z is mostly tired of being told what to do and being underestimated. At the same time, they are also exposed to too many options and references. Therefore, I promote open conversations with them, make things transparent in the office, and give them a platform to speak.

❓
Tell us about your creative process.
I like to work with frameworks because they structure my chaotic mind. If I were to simplify the process, it would be something like this

❓
How do you keep track of project management?
I'm not the best at regulating my attention. Also, when working with different clients, they have different project management tools that I need to learn. Therefore, I prefer to stick to classic and universal tools: Excel and a calendar.
I love the idea of time blocking and have been doing it since my university days. It helps me to focus on tasks and not get bogged down. Color coding also helps me to get a grasp of my overall schedule. I think project management tools are becoming more advanced these days.
This is how I manage everything. My calendar may look like this, and yes, I also include the Formula One calendar there. :-)

Do you think AI will take over our jobs?
I made a whole blog post about that. You can read it here Tl;Dr, I don’t think so. People who don’t use AI will be taken over by those who can utilise it. Let’s upskill instead of fearmongering.

What do you think about the WFO policy?
It may seem ridiculous, but it's understandable. As a Zillennial, I have had the opportunity to work with all four generations. They have different priorities and habits, especially in the work environment, and we cannot change these differences overnight. The pandemic has forced us to think beyond the usual and has opened up discussions about the possibility of being productive while away from the conventional office routine. I believe that it is best for every company to be transparent, have an open discussion with important stakeholders, and create a data-driven policy before deciding where employees should work.
